The preliminary study will be conducted by Susan McCormack District Hearing Therapist with adult patients referred to Portsmouth NHS Trust’s Audio-Vestibular Consultants’ Clinics as part of a Doctorate in Clinical Practice award. The study is expected to commence at the end of October 2010.

Tinnitus can have a severe effect on the quality of life of many individuals. The aim of the study is investigate if tinnitus distress is associated with emotional processing deficits by using The Emotional Processing Scale, the Tinnitus Questionnaire and the Tinnitus Reaction Questionnaire. The results will be utilised to develop a further treatment based study.
