The original study was conducted by Ms Sue Tilley, Team Leader, Chronic Pain Management Service, Dorset County Hospital NHS Trust, with the Dorset Research & Development Support Unit.

The aim of this study was to explore the relationship between chronic pain and emotional processing and to compare with other identified groups.

The current study is being conducted by Helen Pickard, Specialist Physiotherapist, Chronic Pain Management Service, DCHFT, with the Dorset Research and Development Support Unit.

The aim of the current study is to evaluate the impact of an outpatient pain management programme on emotional processing, and to look for a correlation between emotional processing and outcomes.

The data collection for this study commenced in July 2007 and is continuing until a significant amount of data sets have been collected. It is anticipated that this will be July 2010.
